Deborah Massell

Soprano Deborah Massell made her international debut at the Hamburg State Opera and has appeared with the company in a wide range of standard and contemporary operatic roles. She remained in Europe for eight years and performed in opera, concert and recitals throughout Germany, Switzerland, Austria and France.

In the United States she has performed with many leading orchestras and opera companies and made her West Coast recital debut at the Florence Gould Hall at the Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco with guitarist Marc Teicholz.

She has participated in an extensive Schubert song series at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and has performed in educational programs of operatic arias and scenes for children through the Metropolitan Opera Guild.

She has had contemporary works arranged and composed for her and will soon be seen in the upcoming video production of The Bald Soprano produced by New York’s “Center for Contemporary Opera.”

Her recordings include the role of Amour in Gluck’s Echo et Narcisse, (CD and video) and the songs of Jacques Leguerney, both for Harmonia Mundi..

In May she will receive her Master's Degree at the Mannes College of Music in New York City and, immediately following, will perform for four months on the Cunard Line's Mediterrean cruise.
