Lisa Spector
Lisa Spector has performed concert tours in China, Italy,
Romania, and France as well as performances across the United
States as a soloist and with numerous orchestras. In noting her
exceptional interpretative playing and ability to communicate
with her audience, one critic recently wrote, "the audience,
seemingly unable to contain its delight and appreciation of her
stellar performance, burst into applause and gave her a standing
ovation before the piece was finished."
American audiences first became familiar with Ms. Spector
when, shortly after completing her studies, she won First Prize
in both the New York and Los Angeles Chopin Competitions. Since
then she was awarded the Dewar's "Outstanding Artist of
the Year," claimed First Prize in the International Piano
Recording Competition, and won The San Francisco Concerto Orchestra's
International Recording Competition. More recently, she was the
National Finalist in the Simone Belsky Music Award Competition,
and represented the United States as the only American to advance
to the semi finals of the International Chopin Competition held
in Spain.
Born in Syracuse, New York, Ms. Spector holds degrees from
The Juilliard School (B.M.) and The University of Southern California
(M.M.). Her teachers included Earl Wild, Lilian Kallir, and John
Perry. She currently resides in Half Moon Bay, California and
devotes a great deal of time to teaching promising young pianists
at a school which she founded.
